Band to be musical guest for an entire week on David Letterman. The 5 day residency, from March 2-6, will coincide with the release of the band’s new album, No Line On The Horizon. Does U2 really need any more publicity? Give some new, young bands a chance. Oh wait, all new, young bands suck ass.

The Ronnie James Dio-led version of Black Sabbath, now known as Heaven And Hell are set to release their first album under that moniker. “The Devil You Know” will mark the first studio effort from Dio, Geezer Butler, Tony Iommi and Vinny Appice, since the Sabbath album, “Dehumanizer” from 1992. With song titles like, “Bible Black”, and “Eating the Cannibals”, it’s good to know that these metal gods are still leaning towards hell.

They don’t call him the Boss for nothing. Bruce and The E Street Band will be following up 2007’s kick ass “Magic” with “Working On A Dream”, slated to hit stores on January 27, 2009. The album will be Bruce’s 24th and was produced and mixed by Brendan O’Brien, who also helmed “Magic”. Springsteen is quoted as saying “Towards the end of recording Magic, excited by the return to pop production sounds, I continued writing,” “When my friend, producer Brendan O’Brien, heard the new songs, he said, ‘Let’s keep going.’ Over the course of the next year, that’s just what we did, recording with the E Street Band during the breaks on last year’s tour. I hope Working on a Dream has caught the energy of the band fresh off the road from some of the most exciting shows we’ve ever done. All the songs were written quickly, we usually used one of our first few takes, and we all had a blast making this one from beginning to end.” Check out the track listing after the jump.

Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony are in the studio with guitarist Joe Satriani and Red Hot Chili Peppers’ drummer Chad Smith for a new supergroup called Chickenfoot. Could we get an “I Can’t Drive (My Walker) 55?”

Rumors are a-swirling. Supposedly on Wednesday, there was a vendor convention held by Best Buy in Dallas and at this supposed convention Guns manager Andy Gould told the Best Buy employees that the 62 year in the making Chinese Democracy album will be released on November 25 and sold exclusively at Best Buy. Like we said about AC/DC we are getting sick of this exclusive shit, but enough of that for now. The Guns manager then played 3 tracks. He also confirmed that the track “If The World” would be in the new Leonardo Dicaprio and Russell Crowe movie Body Of Lies, it would close out the movie as the credits role. Now take this rumor with a grain of salt, actually make that a keg of salt. Who knows if it’s bullshit or not, but man that Dr. Pepper is gonna taste sweet. They’re saving me .75 cents. Man, what a great world.

AC/DC has announced it won’t release it’s new album, Black Ice, on iTunes on October 20th. The groups guitarist Angus Young was quoted as saying, “We don’t make singles, we make albums.” Ohhh, excuse us, you have integrity! Hmmm, considering you have also made a deal with the world’s largest retailer, Wal-Mart, to be the exclusive seller of this upcoming CD of yours, you’ll excuse us while we vomit on ourselves. Hey Angus and Co., fuck you and your sanctimonious bullshit preaching. Did you ever think about people who don’t live near a Wal-Mart or perhaps all the independent mom and pop record stores out there who will lose business because you slack ass jackals have sold out to the man. So don’t lecture us you dipshit. Maybe we would buy the album if 8 out of the 10 songs didn’t suck.

U2 have penned roughly “fifty to sixty” tracks during their recent studio sessions that stretch from Morocco to Dublin to France. Bono wrote in to U2.com to discuss the band’s new album, now due out in the early stages of 2009 rather than this coming holiday season. We’ll take 10 good tracks. Leave the 50 shitty ones in the vault please, Thank you…. “We’ve hit a rich songwriting vein and we don’t want to stop,” Bono said. “This is our chance for us to defy gravity once again.” Bono said this new album — coming on the heels of two “very personal” albums in All You Can’t Leave Behind and How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb — attempts to recapture “the transition that took us from The Joshua Tree to Achtung Baby.”

AC/DC’s new album Black Ice will have three different collectible covers in yellow, red and white. This is being done to hide the puke which fans will hurl when they are forced to buy the album from Wal-Mart.

Metallica’s new album, Death Magnetic is scheduled to drop on September 12. We came across the video above of the band performing the first single, “The Day That Never Comes” at the Leeds festival in jolly old England. For more Death Magnetic news and previews, check out the below widget.

The former Beach Boy and his label, Capitol/EMI, are partnering with newspaper publisher Gannett for Wilson’s new release, That Lucky Old Sun. Starting Friday, the album will be streamed free on 50 Gannett newspaper and TV websites, including USAToday.com. Wilson describes his new effort as an “interwoven series of ’rounds’ with interspersed spoken word”. Here’s hoping whoever is listening to the stream also has a copy of USA Today handy to vomit into.

It’s been more than 25 years since the corporations have sucked the life-force out of rock music, but never in my wildest dreams did i ever expect AC/DC and the world’s largest retailer to jump into bed together, but apparently hell has frozen over. If you want the new AC/DC album the only place to get it is, Wal-Mart. If the thought of stepping into a Wal-Mart repels you, it can be pre-ordered starting today on walmart.com, samsclub.com and acdc.com. The album, titled “Black Ice”, is available for $11.88. The Brendan O’Brien-produced LP, the band’s first in eight years, isn’t due in Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club stores until October 20th, and the first single “Rock ‘N’ Roll Train” hits August 28th. Click thru for the album tracklist.

Queen and Paul Rodgers revealed that their new album, The Cosmos Rocks, their first studio album with Rodgers on vocals, will be released October 14th. For the band, it’s their first studio album since 1995’s Made In Heaven, which collected the last remaining songs by Freddie Mercury. The album will also feature a cover song (perhaps Del Shannon’s “Runaway”) for the first time in Queen’s recording history. RockHeap has revealed that this album will suck and no one will buy it.
