Posted on: September 22nd, 2008 And The Nominees Are…

Metallica, Run-DMC and The Stooges are among the nominees for the 2009 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class. The 2009 ceremony will be held April 4th in Cleveland, which is the actual home of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum. Other nominees include Jeff Beck, Chic, Wanda Jackson, War, Little Anthony and the Imperials and Bobby Womack.

First-time nominees Metallica have grabbed the honor in only their second year of eligibility, while fellow first timers, The Stooges, have been eligible for well over a decade. This marks the fifth time that Chic has been nominated for the Hall. For the first time ever tickets for the ceremony — which will be held at Cleveland’s Public Hall — will be made available to the public. At least the crowd will be enthusiastic, as opposed to those pompous record company dick heads who usually attend the ceremony.

Posted on: September 8th, 2008 We’re Getting Tired Of The Zep Tour Rumors

At The Toronto International Film Festival Jimmy Page was asked about rumors that he, John Bonham’s son Jason and John Paul Jones are recording right now and that a reunion is on the horizon. Page said, “We’re not actually recording.  Playing at the 02, that was our reunion and it was one day and it was at the 02 in London”. Page ws referring to the December 10, 2007 benefit concert in honor of late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. He went on to say, “And basically that was it because if you’re going to do a reunion, you need four members. John Paul Jones, myself and Jason would sort of jam afterwards but it was nothing as monumental as people are speculating.” Can these assholes either shit or get off the pot? Do it or don’t do it, but stop dropping half ass clues like jamming together or showing up at award shows together, it’s really driving us nuts.

Posted on: July 22nd, 2008 Review: VH-1 Rock Honors - The Who

VH-1 honored The Who at the latest incarnation of Rock Honors. This show makes as much sense as MTV’s VMAs, considering both channels have forsaken music for lame ass reality shows. The basic idea behind this garbage is to have some contemporary bands who are Who fans play a few songs, while a couple of douchebag actor’s introduce the acts, and then The Who performs.

While Foo Fighters captured the fierceness of The Who with their set and the Flaming Lips set personified The Who’s theatricality, but let’s be real, the only reason to show up to this party was Pearl Jam. Paying tribute to Quadrophenia, PJ ripped throw Love Reign o’er Me and The Real Me. They proved yet again why they are the heir apparent to The Who and why they are the greatest rock band out today.

Posted on: July 14th, 2008 George Martin Honored

Famed Beatles producer George Martin was honored with the Grammy Foundation Leadership award by the widows of John Lennon and George Harrison at a ceremony Saturday night in Los Angeles. Both Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison chaired the event, which honored Martin’s humanitarian and charitable efforts. While Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr were both listed as “event chairs,” neither was in attendance. Apparently Paul is to busy chasing ass all over the globe and Ringo was busy cleaning his closet. I mean c’mon guys, this is the guy who made you, who produced every record you ever did and the one he didn’t was your suckiest record. That’s just lame, considering he’s 82 years old. However several other artists whom George Martin produced did come out to honor the “Guinness World Records’ most successful producer ever,” including Michael McDonald, Tom Jones, Jeff Beck, America and Burt Bacharach.  After the event Martin was quoted as saying “Awards don’t come much better than this” and “I’ve been so lucky to work with so many wonderful people, and great talent all my life.” and of course “FU Paul and Ringo”(not really, but I bet he was thinking it).
